Hallmarks
Phi Theta Kappa has four Hallmarks: Leadership, Scholarship, Service, Fellowship. The Hallmarks are the areas in which members should excel to become fully rounded individuals.
Leadership
The Leadership hallmark for Upsilon Phi chapter is accomplished by planning and carrying out events, such as fundraising, voter registration, the holiday tea for faculty and staff, volunteer work, and more.
Scholarship
The Scholarship hallmark is accomplished through active participation in studying the International Honors topic. The Honors Study topic currently is Gold, Gods, and Glory: The Global Dynamics of Power. Our chapter subscribes to the satellite seminars from International headquarters.
Service
Our chapter is very service-oriented, so we participate in both the International service project and local service projects. The International service project is Operation Green: Improving Our Communities. We have initiated our participation in this project by collecting aluminum cans to be recycled for Habitat for Humanity and by collecting small electronics (PDAs, cell phones, used ink cartridges, etc.) to be recycled for breast cancer research. Locally, we raise money for the Danville Cancer Association, do volunteer work at the Homeless Shelter, and clean the streets around our campus, among other things.
Fellowship
Wherever there are two or more Upsilon Phi chapter members, there is fellowship. We always enjoy being in each other's company and eating!
